Fast, friendly, funny, helpful; that's how I am as I go about my daily tasks as a cashier in the fast-paced environment of an always busy Walmart.
In the almost 3 years I've been at it I have many regular customers, including some cat lovers, who come through my lane several times a month.
I get frazzled parents to laugh at how I respond to babbling, even crying, babies and toddlers by telling the child that while I may agree with them there is nothing I can do about it...they will have to listen to mom and dad, there's just no way around it...the child never fails to stop the crying and give me a funny look.
I get laughs when I hold up a jug of a certain detergent and ask "is this All?" and the customer catches themselves responding by reflexively pointing at their still full cart(s) before realizing the joke.
I get laughs when I ask if a customer has ever seen the sun rise and set at the same time and, after they say no, I raise and lower a box of Sun detergent.
I get laughs when I ring up cat food and litter first, explaining how I didn't want to hurt the feelings of the cat if it found out I didn't treat its stuff with the proper respect.
The things I do to keep myself amused for 8 hours, I swear...hee, hee! They make the day go by faster.
And that brings me to today, a typically busy Sunday made busier by it being Father's Day...
