Good evening Houston!
The Mad Houstonian, here, and the country continues to go to hell...
but there is hope, as anyone who watched the recent Republican National Convention will have seen.
Yes, I know, it's been just over 2 months...
I am sorry.
I have been pre-occupied with the goings on in our nation, worried by all I've seen and heard.
I have also been returning to work, and to walking on my own 2 feet every day, with shifts far different than all those years of 3 to Midnight thanks to reduced store hours.
There is news on the creativity front to report, as I work on finally returning to regular posting here.
As regular readers know, I submitted entries to several writing contests earlier this year.
On August 13 I got an e-mail, via Winning Writers...
"Dear Kiril Kundurazieff,
Thanks again for being a part of our 2020 Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest.
This contest was extremely competitive, with 5,072 contestants, and I regret you did not win a prize.
Before we announce the results to the public on August 15, we invite you to preview them."
The next contest will open on August 15 with a deadline of April 1, 2021.
They have doubled the first prize to $2,000 and the second to $500."
God appears to not have given up on me and my creativity...I saw 2 more Faces of God smiling at me in mid-July. :-D
Something very special occurred soon after...
I learned that something I submitted, locally, back on Jan. 24, was chosen for inclusion in a permanent project.
Due to my accident in February, and a focus on recovery, I had completely forgotten about the submission.
To say I was surprised at the news would be an understatement.
I visited the location, over several days, for exploration and photos.
I am waiting for news when everything will finally be in place before making an official announcement, here, with a series of blog posts, because I want to take a few final photos once the project is complete, or at least my part in it is finally in place.
Regarding my leg....
I saw my doctor last month for a follow-up...
I had ex-rays, pranced around the room on foot, flexed the leg...had to pay my $75 co-pay for this visit, for the 1st time since this all started, but it was worth it...
They were impressed and pleased with my performance, and leg flexibility, and the way the x-rays looked...
Hell, I was impressed with the close-up of the bones and the metal in place!
They were impressed with the 4 to 8 miles a day of standing and walking I put in every day.
I told them that I want to return to doing 10/11K walks, and further, not just in Houston, but, hopefully beyond, like I did with my trip, last Fall, to Austin.
I told them that, in the cooler weather of the Fall, I hope to return to bike riding, as well.
I told them I still felt pain in the knee, but can't afford to do things that might help build up strength in both legs.
They told me the pain was to be expected, and with the walking and exercise I do I am performing like a "rock star" in their view.
It has been just over 6 months since my injury and the upshot of this visit?
In early Feb I was making funny photos promoting my creativity and Everwalk, when I was still an Ambassador (non-walk leading version), by the end of the month walking was the last thing on my mind....I was just glad to be alive.
On this visit to the doctor...
I was told there was no need for a follow-up visit unless, somewhere down the road, there was some reason to do so related to the physical condition of the knee.
With cooler weather supposedly in the offing for Sept. I plan to do more walking than just to work, and shopping.
Anyway, that's the latest, and if anyone is still out there checking in I thank you. :-D
Nice to see a post from you. Glad you are healed. I hope the kitties are all well.
