Good morning Houston! The Mad Houstonian, here!
As I begin to get out and about more, at last, and with a couple of weeks until I am supposed to return to work, I wondered if there was something I could do to not just satisfy the call for people to run around hiding their face, and still also promote my writing.
Over a year ago I had a design put on the front and back of a hoodie, at Big Frog, the same folks who helped me design some 3 Ft. Please, and Pedestrian Alert shirts.
I've thought of having a couple of new T-shirts done, but that is the obvious course of action.
I looked at the Everwalk bandanas I have, and wondered if I could do something similar.
I contacted the Bellaire branch of Big Frog, again, a couple of days ago, and discussed my options.
Yellow bandanas were not available, and they could not print over the whole bandana.
They had red bandanas, though, and could print over one corner of the bandana in a font and sizes appropriate for my purpose.
If I was able to come by the store, they would come outside and show me the bandana, and how black lettering would look on one.
I came down, took a look, and was satisfied.
A mock-up was sent by email.
The idea was a design that would make the top lines of each set of text easily readable even when people are maintaining a social distance.
I liked it and, yesterday afternoon, I came by the store and picked up my order for 3 bandanas.
I walk anywhere from 3 to 9 miles a day.
I plan on taking longer walks, as I explore Houston more than I have in my 1st 7+ years here.
I plan to get out beyond Houston, again... a three day trip to Austin, last Fall, was a test run.
Do I expect every person I encounter to be curious enough by my mask to whip out their cell phone and check me out, or make note of the website so as to check it out on their home computer later?
No, of course not, but some will, I'm sure, and if they leave a comment, even better.
Will something more come from this effort at publicity? The Lord willing, who knows.
Great ideas! I like the mask.
