Happy Saturday, Houston! The Mad Houstonian, here.
Are we glad April is behind us, or what? Hee, hee!
As a Walmart Cashier there are a couple of times a year when we do fundraising drives, one for MD Anderson Cancer Center, and another for the Children's Miracle Network & TX Children's Hospital.

In 2016, I was inspired to write a poem about ringing the bell for the Children's Hospital Campaign.
Last year, as the campaign began, I reposted, and updated, the original post, with new pics and info.
I truly enjoyed taking my bell ringing to a new level, last year, and the support I got for doing so.
While the 2020 campaign won't get under way until the Summer the Network has an online campaign going on, to raise funds, that they call the COVID-19 Impact Fund.
So, I got to thinking about an updated version of my old poem, set in our current circumstances, especially since I will hopefully have returned to work in time for the next store campaign.
My Ding a Ling: Wuhan Flu (COVID-19) Edition -- With humble apologies to the great Chuck Berry!
When I went to work at Wal-Mart one Summer day
My CSM brought me something with which to play
Black, with a white handle, it was a cute little thing
I call it my ding a ling a ling
Reduced store hours, face coverings, and Social Distancing were the rule
That the store was out of TP, and hand sanitizer, customers thought wasn't cool
When they paid and still donated a dollar, making my register ring,
I'd grab and wiggle my ding a ling
Then a mother came for a child's school shirt
But, when told that part of the store was closed was truly hurt
When she paid for her groceries, and donated anyway, my register would ring
And I began swinging my ding a ling
Once things were slow as I waited for y'all
I sprayed and wiped down my register, the counter, belt, and all
Taking seriously the job of cleaning everything
Including, even, including, my ding a ling
I remember a man who came to buy something for a specific task
Bought lots of material so the wife could sew him a mask
He donated ten dollars and I thought it was such a wonderful thing
That I happily wagged my ding a ling
Another man came to get a license to fish in the Bayou
I had to tell him catching his own dinner the state said he couldn't do
Buying a rod & reel he donated twenty dollars when he paid for this thing
So, with both hands, I enthusiastically waved my ding a ling
A young girl with long flowing hair was shopping for a Dye Kit
When told we were out had a conniption fit
Such vile words you wouldn't believe can come from such a sweet young thing
Since she didn't donate I sadly couldn't shake my ding a ling
This here song I hope it makes you glad
Supporting a worthy cause though times are bad
Shopping at Wal-Mart please consider donating when you buy something
So you can tell your friends you saw me ringing my ding a ling
My ding a ling
My ding a ling
You saw me ringing my ding a ling
Oh my ding a ling!
My ding a ling!
I love ringing my ding a ling...!!!
Good job! We have been lucky that our Walmart still has all the departments open and 12 packs of Scott toilet paper are well stocked.

Ellen, from what I have been reading situations in stores differ from state to state, even county to county, in some, depending on what edicts have been passed.
I have not been in the store I work at for weeks so am not sure if parts of the stores are off limits.
I know they limit the number of customers at any given time, customers and associates have to wear masks, and the temp of associates is taken as they arrive for work, and they are sent home if their temp is 100+.
