Today marks Day 13 of Frost's 30 Day Optimism Challenge. You can play catch up by starting with my intro to this series and following the "next" link from there.
Today Frost asks participants to "Take a Break From All Media For the Rest of the Day."
Not an easy thing to do, not even for a person like me.
I have not had a TV for years, now. The last one I owned still had an "ample backside", hee, hee!
Not sure I'd want one of the new jobs. With all the things one can do with the modern TV, it sounds way too complicated and time consuming for a person who may only care to watch the news and the occasional documentary.
Like most people, I am on Facebook, and I have Twitter and Instagram accounts.
I can easily go the whole day not visiting Twitter and Instagram...Facebook, though?
I may not add a status, or comment on something, but I do browse around to at least keep up on the news.
I am also a writer with 2 blogs and I can go days without writing on either (Hell, I went 9 months, recently, with barely a peep on the blogs due to a dead Laptop), though I know I maybe shouldn't if I want to attract interest.
I have a cell phone, and even if I did not visit my social media I have one indispensable app on it that I use every day, without fail...The app for the Houston Metro Transit.
If I absolutely wanted to "take a break from all media" for a day...the only way to do so would be to leave my cell phone at home and ride my bike to and from work.
I've done that a few times, over the years, so know it is doable, hee, hee!
Actually, unless the TV in the breakroom at work is turned off the only option I have to avoid media is to go outside for each of my 15 min. breaks and my hour lunch.
Well, actually, since Walmart Radio is blaring in the background, in the store, as I work my register during an 8-hour shift....
Dear Frost...while this was a nice idea to suggest...let's just say it is "complicated" to put into practice in this day and age, hee, hee!
In a 24 hour day, I work 8 hours, sleep 7 hours, and ride the bus for 90 min. at a minimum. Of the remaining 7 hours I take a nice bath, sometimes shave, cook and eat meals at home, or dine out and walk and or bike for an hour or more...
When you add up the numbers it is easy to see that few hours in my day are spent accessing my online world, either as a writer, or user of social media.

I would think you need amusement from social media while on the bus :)

LOL!
I always have a book to read while on the bus.
