Happy World Poetry Day!
So what is this day all about?
"UNESCO first adopted 21 March as World Poetry Day during its 30th General Conference in Paris in 1999, with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard.
#WorldPoetryDay is the occasion to honour poets, revive oral traditions of poetry recitals, promote the reading, writing, and teaching of poetry....
The United Nations also has a page devoted to the event, with messages, multimedia, and resources.
As they say on their page...
"Poetry reaffirms our common humanity by revealing to us that individuals, everywhere in the world, share the same questions and feelings. Poetry is the mainstay of oral tradition and, over centuries, can communicate the innermost values of diverse cultures."
I have been sharing my poetry and song on my various blogs since 2002 and never actually got around to an actual theme song that I recall; At least a piece that I called by such a name.
Let me know what you think, hee, hee!
The Mad Macedonian Theme Song
By Kiril Kundurazieff
With apologies to The Munsters, Bob Mosher and Jack Marshall (Music, vocals & lyrics via You Tube!)
and a tip of the hat to my friend Kender MacGowan.
When you are out and about day or night
And you see a man come into view.
Sporting hat, bag and camera stick, he’s a sight,
That’s the Mad Macedonian approaching you.
If you should meet this strange anomaly
Forget what you have read or heard,
He will shake your hand gladly
Even if his work you have never encountered a word.
To visit his blog don't be afraid
By reading his posts your day will be made.
Photos, poems, stories, opinions, and reviews all displayed
By the Mad Macedonian, by the Mad Macedonian.
Looking for something different than what the Blogosphere has got,
Want new material to fill your pretty little head?
Be bold, step up, the usual this promises to be not.
Discover what the Mad Macedonian offers instead.
Day or night he uncovers much to write about,
Finding stuff to make you smile and frown.
There are many things to share his thoughts about,
For sure the Mad Macedonian will go to town.
With camera and notebook him you will find
By foot, bus, or bike, to be inspired he is keen.
All he sees is food for his creative mind.
The Mad Macedonian, The Mad Macedonian.
Like this? My cats have one of their own!
