Kiril The Mad Macedonian

Hopefully, dear reader, you read the story first, not this comment.

That would spoil the surprise now wouldn't it? ;-D

In 1982 I was a Criminal Justice Major, in my Senior Year at Cal State University Los Angeles.

I also took some creative writing courses in college, too.

The above was taken from the only example of Creative Writing I saved from my college days.

It was an assignment, in an Interview Techniques Class, to take what we had learned in class and write our own "Interrogation Report".

I got an "A" for this assignemnt. ;-D

The fictional events of this report are "true" to the best of my creative imagination at the time, only certain names have been changed...because I wanted to. ;-D

A. The 1st names of the subject, and his Father, were slightly changed because a Google found that real people with those 1st, and last names, exist in real life.

B. The name of the hero of the piece was originally my own, but I was inspired to creatively change it for this posting.

C. The last name of the victim originally was something else that, in hindsight, as remarked on by a friend, could today be considered offensive in some circles, but such offense was not intended by the young writer I was at the time.

From what I remember I was trying to contrast the differences between my characters, for my "story".

At the time, and maybe because it was a criminal justice class, and not exactly creative writing, issues of political correctness, or appropriateness, in the use of the name I originally chose, never came up, and didn't even occur to my young skull full of mush.

So I deleted the original posting of this tale, the other day, and gave poor Sadie a new last name, which means "Rich" in Polish, instead. ;-D

The original name can be found in a Google Cache, if you simply must know what it was. ;-D

D. The Case Synopsis was based on the Fact Sheet passed out by the instructor, and the Opening, and Closing, Paragraphs, were based on Textbook Examples.

Oh, and if you go to CSULA, today, you may still find the Rec Room, and the McDonald's is still where the story says it is, but Hidden Hole, and its environs, are don't exist so put away your golf bag. ;-D

Is there an idea, here, for future stories about Juri?

What do you think?

My friend has suggested that I follow up this "Report".

The friend wrote: "You've done much better work since I've known you. The piece stands on what it is; the work of a young inexperienced writer.

Consider it a "benchmark" of how far you have come.

Re-write the piece using only the facts of the case as if it were a fresh story idea and post it as a follow-up It would be interesting exercise, yes?"

Yes, I agree.

It will be a challenge, but I will give it some thought, and see what I can come up with.

Comments are welcome. ;-D

I love this!!!!

I'm in school for criminal justice, and ever since I was young I had a wild imgination!!
