Don't blame me, I voted McCain/Palin!
As I wrote in the Update in my Election Watch post:
Over the past year I've not covered politics, and issues, on this blog, choosing instead to do so as a part of the Stumble Upon Community where I Thumb Up, Thumb Down, and comment on anything, and everything, and The Choice to Read is Yours...
I've read, heard, and viewed enough material, since 2005, from sources that I believe, respect, and trust, that I am seriously concerned about the future of America, the land of Freedom, Capitalism, and Democracy, that my Father fled to from Communist Yugoslavia, after WW2, in order to build a new life, and raise a family.
It appears that America will have a Center/Left, possibly Socialist, Government in DC, while the people of the country may still basically actually be mostly Center/Right.
The Mainstream Media won this election for Obama, and the gullable public fell for it hook, line, and sinker.
As I sit here watching FOX NEWS there is a sort of Andrew Jackson Moment occuring on the streets outside the White House as hundreds of ordinary citizens are celebrating in the streets with joy, and abandon.
The Secret Service will keep them from trampling all over the White House grounds, and jumping on the furniture in the People's House, unlike in the day of Jackson, so there's some comfort in that. ;-D
Congratulations Barack Hussein Obama, and Joe Biden.
Make no mistake about it, tonite IS an historic moment in the history of this county.
Yet, yet, I truly believe it is a very sad one for its future.
Nothing about his past, or his plans for this nation, such as they are, or the behavior of many of his worshippers, give me any confidence in the ability of The Messiah, The Chosen One (As some of the more unhinged Kool-Aid Drinkers call him, and concerned Conservatives have derisively echoed.) to lead this nation into the future.
Flowery speeches do not a President make.
Mr Obama...I will be watching you, Americans will be watching you.
Mr. Obama...I don't trust you, and many others feel the same way.
Mr. Obama...You will have to EARN our trust, and our respect, by your deeds in office.
As for the Republican Party...
The Party of Lincoln, and of Reagan, is in shambles.
In the years since The Contract With America the Party has lost its way.
Bush 2 was a disaster, despite the successes of The War Against Terror.
John McCain, despite the great pick of Sarah Palin, did not run a winning campaign, at least not until it was much too late.
The Republican Party MUST get its house in order, starting tomorrow, and toss out on their Ass anyone who is unable, or unwilling to return to its successfull ideological roots.
We may not agree on everything, but we must strive to agree on the important things.
Glen Reynolds, the Instapundit, has, and will have over the rest of the week and beyond, plenty of links to Conservative discussion about the debacle, the future under Obama, and how Conservatives can pick up the pieces, and I heartily recommend checking him out from time to time.
The Dems won more seats in the House, and more in the Senate, but not the number needed to get to 60, not even close, so there is hope for the future, slim though it is.
We live in interesting times, someone once said...
We do indeed...dangerous ones, too.
***UPDATE - 11/5/08 - 130pm: OF MALKINLANCHES, LOIN GIRDING, AND READER EMAIL***
Last night, after posting the above essay with it's link to the call by Michelle Malkin for conservatives to engage in some, um, LOIN GIRDING, her readers have followed my Trackback to here, non-stop.
Welcome, welcome, one and all!
(Also welcome to those brave and hearty few who are coming from a couple of other places I linked to. ;-D )
You may be surprised not to find this place to be wall to wall politics, and issues, so let me just say that that stuff is here but, for the most part, I've left the choice to explore all that up to the reader, who will have to put in the effort to find it. ;-D
That may not change, much, if at all, in the future, because the reason I started this blog was to get away from 5+ years of blogging that stuff, and start fresh. ;-D
A wise decision, so far. ;-D
Anyway...I have received 2 very interesting e-mails, responding to this post, this morning, that I wish to bring out of the comments, and into more exposure, so as to really stir the pot for any future comments to come, here, or by bloggers elsewhere.
No sooner was the election called than all the usual suspects in the media, politics, and Blogosphere, began to weigh in with their feelings, on what this all means for the country, and the 2 major parties.
That's fine, important, and interesting but, lest we, and they, forget, ordinary folks, with no internet access, with no blogs, or blogs with low to miniscule traffic, are engaging in the same discussions in all sorts of venues.
My post above is just one example.
The 2 comments present the 2 sides of the political divide in our country in starkly clear, and heartfelt words, and the second one cuts very close to home as its from a family member who, after years of reading my blogging, and rarely telling me what she thinks, finally felt so strongly enough about something I wrote that she felt compelled to toss in her 2 cents.
I'm not too surprised by her words, despite our rarely, if ever, discussing politics, and issues, but I'm not one to let politics come between family, because family is the most important thing in the world to me.
So, without further ado, here are the comments (If you decide to reply, be aware that my Cat, Nikita, as Bouncer, is in charge of approving, and declining, all submissions.)...
FROM MASTER CHIEF LARRY:
Yesterday, November 4th 2008, citizens (and some illegal residents) participated in our unique process of the peaceful transfer of power in the government of the United States of America.
I am grateful to live (and have defended for the past 21 years) a nation that does this every two and four years.
It is one of the main reasons we have been and will remain the greatest nation on earth.
The campaign process is a fight out among the candidates.
It is supposed to be their primary effort to win the hearts and minds of the people of the United States.
Since 1789 we have had this great experiment of a government that is by, for and of The People.
This election year has saddened me though.
It was election for the hearts and not the minds of the people.
A majority of Citizens of every race, color, creed voted not based upon rational thought but upon emotions.
Whether it was pride in the first African-American candidate, or past slavery guilt for the first major party African-American candidate in our nation's history, it was most definitely not by logic.
I was watching the television last night and exit polls showed that 71% of voters believed that President-elect Obama would raise their taxes, and a significantly lower percentage believed that Senator McCain would raise their taxes.
That, coupled with the exit poll data that showed the Economy was the number 1 issue on voters' minds are incongruous.
History has proven that raising taxes in an economy such as the one we have today will only worsen matters.
The two stances do not go hand in hand.
That demonstrates that our President-elect was voted into office based upon pride among those of the same ethnic background and Caucasian guilt over slavery as the major contributing factors.
No ifs, ands, or buts’ about it.
Most people forget that our nation, our Republic, this great experiment in self-government, almost perished in the war fought to end slavery.
Most citizens of this great country do not recognize the fact that Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines serving under the flag of the United States of America died ending slavery over 140 years ago.
There should be no guilt owed to anybody, but maybe there should be a debt of gratitude?
Another item that hard working, tax paying citizens across the fruited plain should be made aware of.
If you look at the county by county electoral map of the 2008 election, something should jump right off the page at you.
That is the fact that the President-elect won every major urban center and New England.
Data will show that the voting populations in these areas are those that receive the most government aid.
Not the self-starters, hard-working, independent minded people that reflect the views and values this great nation was founded upon.
Little government, no taxation without representation, self reliance are the values our Founding Fathers held.
What tax paying citizens of the United States of America should wake up and realize we are facing almost the exact same circumstances we faced at the birth of our nation.
There is, by way of apathy mostly, very little representation for the majority of tax payers because those people that actually pay taxes in this country have become a minority whose concerns are not taken seriously by our elected representatives.
These elected representatives are using the revenue paid into the U.S. Treasury by tax payers to "purchase" the votes of those people who do not pay taxes.
This is a slippery slope down which all Americans should fear treading.
That slippery slope is one that ended mankind’s first great experimentation into Democracy, ancient Greece.
It turns out that in 1776 we traded one tyrant hundreds of miles away for hundreds of tyrants just a few miles away.
A peaceful revolution is needed.
One that will only be accomplished when tax payers in this country wake up and say "No More!" to our government's following a course so far away from what made this country great for over 200 years.
A course correction (peaceful revolution) is needed before our ship founders in the shoal waters of liberalism and socialism.
Too many countries are already there as either rotting and decaying carcasses, or vessels waiting for their citizens to find a way off.
For now all I can say to all of my fellow citizens, hold on to your wallets for the next four years.
If our course correction does not happen soon, our great experiment in a representative republic will crash and founder on the shoals and we can only blame ourselves.
The Declaration of Independence and Constitution are the greatest documents every produced by mankind.
The apathetic lack of participation by the primary producers, job makers, and income earners of our country will doom us to the ash heap of history.
FROM MY FEMALE FAMILY MEMBER:
Obviously, the nation DOES trust Obama.
He won by having our trust, respect and believing in him to make this nation a better place.
Everyone voted for him.
The very few that didnt...
I feel it's because they are prejudiced and could not stand to see a Black President, not because of anything else.
If he had been white and stating what he is going to do for our country, then McCain would of had Zero votes, because the McCain voters would have voted for Obama.
I truly beleive in Obama, and his plan for our nations come back.
And I am proud to say that I Voted for him.
And come time for election again if he decides to go another round, I will be there for him again.
Ok, all you happy people, let the debate begin...or not. ;-D
***END UPDATE***
My best wishes to President-elect Obama.
I think we can, once and for all, put to rest this notion that the Republicans must move to the center and be more moderate.
Why do you think so many Democrats crossed over and voted for McCain in the primaries?
Romney, in my opinion, would have won this election.
You can't "out Democrat" a Democrat.
Why buy fish at a convenience store when we can go to the fish market?
We saw what the MSM did to their beloved John McCain.
All those big time politicians screaming for the Republicans to go towards the middle "jumped ship".
They were political opportunists and cowards and we (conservatives) should never listen to them again.
Some of those same idiots and pundits who agreed with them are now saying that the Republicans should move even more to the middle!
Are you kidding me?
I'm anticipating that after 4 years of an Obama administration, if he does what we think he will, that it will bring back memories of Jimmy Carter and the country will be in a very "foul" mood.
When that time comes, we need another Reagan to come to the forefront and not move an inch, but to make the country come back to him.
Anyway, good luck to President Obama and I pray you will not be another Jimmy Carter.

Well effin said.
I want to believe that Obama won't be as bad as some people think, but I'm quite sure, that at best, he won't be as good as most people hope he will be.
I wish this site had come out earlier, I had some Obamabot friends finding out that they had big differences with Obama's positions.
Years ago I was knocked off the voting rolls here in this very Blue City when I was a Republican, so on election day I found out I was knocked off as an Un-Affiliated.
Next time I should register as a Democrat, I bet I won't get knocked off then.
The biggest dangers come from the Left anyway, my votes in this Blue State's closed primaries would be more important there.
Telling Moonbats I'm a Democrat would stop some in their tracks too, maybe making it easier to chip away at the false veneer of so-called 'progressivism'.
Let's hope he does well, at least not too badly, with the least amount of despair possible.
May God Bless and help guide President Obama.
And may God Bless and save America!
Keep the faith!

To dredge up a beloved old chestnut the left mouthed in 2000 until it became fact in their fevered minds; Obama was selected, not elected.
Yes, Obama's election is historic but not for the obvious; he is the first presidential candidate that the media openly endorsed and advocated to the point of oblitherating all pretense of vetting or fairness. Ask yourself if Obama would be President-elect if the media had given him Sarah Palin's coverage? Of course not.
Obama's election is a Pyrric victory in that he did not win on his mertits or content of character but was handed the presidency by a wealthy white media. I'm sure Obama realizes this and used them as they did him. Just as Obama's historic candidacy set women back decades so will his presidency set back African-Americans.
But I digress, I'm of two minds; to go John Galt permanently or to work to return the GOP to it roots as Malkin rightfully says must be done.
We need new leadership and a refreshed party base, or it's all for naught. Boehner must go. To hell with McConnell, he's damaged goods as he barely clung to his seat. What good has he been to date?
The RNC needs a thorough house cleaning, the RNCC in particular. All the failed consultants, party Apparatchiks and campaign insiders/leakers now sliming Palin to cover their asses must go.
We must modernize our message while not not compromising our principals, the GOP is not a party of mavericks. We pandered to an imaginary middle and chose poorly, Romney should have been our candidate. We would have still lost in this media climate, the media chose and elected whom they wanted; but we would feel less like vote whores today.
If blocks of the base talk of staying home because this or that isn't what they believe/endorse then we need to part company with them too. I fear it will take the threat of political extinction to finally clean house and emerge with a clear message and purpose. Pelosi may be the one to deliver the coup de grace to the tired muddle that has become the GOP.
However, having said that; what's the point if the media will not give us a fair hearing? The real Messiah could not have run successfully in this election with McCain's 79% negative media coverage.
I'm very conflicted and thus rambling, so will close.
