Welcome to Meowsings of an Opinionated Pussycat!
Let's begin with a News Report!
1. Fire and Cats don't Mix:
A very scared cat fled a house fire in Albuquerque, N.M., recently, and scampered 240 miles to escape the flames.
Miko, a black and white cat, was last seen in December, on the night of the fire.
A couple of weeks ago, Miko's owner got a call from an animal shelter in Pueblo, Colo:
Shelter: Dear forlorn cat lover, there's someone here, on the phone, that wants to speak to you.
Miko: Meow, meow, MEOW!!
Owner: Miko, darling, your're alive!!!
Upon further questioning the cat revealed to Officials at the shelter that, trying to keep warm, she hopped a tractor-trailer and rode it all the way to Colorado.
She had lost her collar so when she was found she informed the shelter officials that she had a microchip in her neck that would confirm her story about not being a feral.

2. Love is blind: Companionship devine.
Born completely blind and shunned by his owners, Chance had a tough start to life.
But thanks to the generosity of two Daily Mail readers, the ten-week-old alsatian puppy has finally been given the loving home he deserves.
And he's already made a best friend - a ten-year-old blind cat called Louis.
What an amazing and touching story out of Britain, and a very cute photo, too! ;-D
Love is blind for Alsatian puppy Chance and Louis the cat - the sightless new best friends.
3. For the Cat whose Human is a Doll Collector.
Did you know that there are about 90 million household cats in the United States?
Damn, but that's a hell of a lot of Pussycats! ;-D
I'm sure many readers, human and feline, out there are in multi-cat households, and may even know the so-called "Crazy Cat Lady" of the neighborhood. ;-D
Well, get a load of this beauty!
A 5 1/4-inch vinyl doll comeplete with six moveable cats and two permanently attached ones!
Get a load of the wild-eyed look on the Cat Lady's face!
I can't begin to guess what the cause of that is so ain't gonna try!
Anyway, the Lansing State Journal swears you can buy this thing online in several places. ;-D
4. Cats vs. Birds: The Fur and Feathers fly...among their Human supporters.
Bird lovers and researchers claim that cats prey on and eat many birds and disturb their reproductive ability. The supporters of the cats claim these accusations are vastly exaggerated and say they oppose such ideas as thinning out the number of street cats or imposing restrictions, including forbidding cats to leave their homes.
The argument has recently made the headlines of the major newspapers in the United States. A few weeks ago, The New York Times devoted a lengthy article to the subject, focusing on the story of Texas ornithologist Jim Stevenson. A year and a half ago, Stevenson shot to death a cat that was about to pounce on a bird of the plover species, which is protected by law.
A traffic supervisor who used to feed that very same cat then initiated legal proceedings against Stevenson. Stevenson told the court that he had acted within the law and had defended a species facing extinction. The jury was stalemated and the case was dismissed.
It seems that urban, feral felines, and cats that have reverted once again to the wild are, not to mention cats with homes who are allowed to hang out outside, are stirring up a storm by doing what comes naturally.

5. An excellent, and informative, article by a Cat Doctor, that answers the question...Does Your Cat Feel Pain?
This article, discussing common painful conditions in us Cats, has a few pictures that some, humans, and felines, might find a little disturbling, but I agree with the blogger, and cat lover, Auntie P, where I first learned of the piece, it should be safe for most readers.
A Tip of the Hat to Aunti P, of Foster Cat's Blog!
Now let's move on to a round-up of Weekly Carnivals:
I'd like to dedicate this portion of the post to an unknown neighbor that Daddy met the other night, by sharing a couple of photos Daddy took. The Cat had a collar, it appears, but Daddy wasn't able to get close enough to get a look at it. ;-D
