Happy Christmas Season, everyone!
This is an updated version of something I wrote on this blog the week of Thanksgiving 2012....
I began blogging over 14 years ago.
I had no clue where it would take me. God did, though.
He knew that my newly discovered talent for poetry, and storytelling, my emerging talents as a journalist, commentator, speaker, photographer and videographer, my love of my cats, and interest in cycling, genealogy, history, politics, and more, all would be utilized to educate, entertain, and inform anyone who read my blogs, or heard me perform, or give a presentation.
My writing has affected many people in many different ways.
I believe I (and my feline muses) am wielding a most unique pencil, unlike anything else out there, and the pencil I wield on Mad Macedonian is unique in its own way as well.
While I have struggled for 14+ years to find my place as a writer and build an audience, God knows where my creative journey will eventually lead me, even if I do not.
I have faith in my abilities, and ability to learn new ways to wield my pencil, and trust in God to guide me in the right direction, in the New Year.
As this, the most recent of my "Smile of God" sightings (Sept 13, 2016), shows...
God knows where I’m at. He knows where I’ll end up.
The author and finisher of my personal life and writing career has a firm grasp of my pencil, and if I will let him, the story He’ll write will no doubt blow me away, and probably knock your socks off as well.
My cell phone camera is not suited for the type of photography I have long been known for on my various blogs over the years and, this evening, I spent time seriously considering my choices for a new one and almost decided to buy one on Friday.
Ultimately, despite the sales prices, even though I have gone far too long without and it would be a positive creative step for the new year I decided not to (only partly because, in the $200 -$300 range, the Point & Shoots are more sophisticated, powerful, have new, unfamiliar capabilities, and are without one or 2 things I'm used to in a camera, now).
Yes, this month is a 3 paycheck month and I got a $200 quarterly bonus this week as well as the chance to get a 25% discount on 1 full shopping cart (or a 1 item purchase if I chose) today (Dec. 1) or Friday (Dec. 2) because I worked Thanksgiving & Black Friday, but I decided to forgo a shopping spree on clothes, or just buying a camera, because I have to be so careful with my spending, regular month or not.
The dates of my pay days and bill due dates require me to carefully plan how to use my money, even in a 3 check month.
I AM going to get a little something, writing related, but will have to go to Barnes N Noble or another store to do so, or maybe get them cheaper on Amazon.
****UPDATE - Christmas Day****
