I knew something was coming since last Monday, hee, hee!
As readers know I overdid it a bit recently.
My co-workers have been encouraging and concerned since my return, especially once they understood the background of what led to my collapse.
I assured my fellow Wal-Mart cashiers I was doing better and had a little money on my bus card to get me thru the rest of the month, as I stayed off my bike as much as possible.
On Monday, when I arrived for work, a co-worker comes up to me in the hall near the break room and tells me breathlessly, "you are gonna like tomorrow; it will bring you to tears. Some of us cashiers have something for you."
I laughed and said to her, "boy you sure can't keep a secret, can you? Don't say more so I'll forget you blabbed!"
Later in the day, another co-worker smiles at me and says, "you get your money yet?"
Right in front of a front end supervisor....
I swear, the look on her face as she stared at him...
It was all I could do to keep from laughing as I played dumb to save his, now worthless, hide.
Needless to say nothing happened on Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday.
Yesterday a pair of my fellow cashiers came up to me and presented me with the above, from some of my fellow cashiers, and a couple of floor people, along with some kind words about how nice, friendly, funny and hard-working I am.
I was very moved by and grateful for, this gesture and have set about checking off names as I make my personal thanks.
The card will be used in the month of May and will help a lot.
I have yet to get anything from the ambulance company about what I might be charged for my trouble and will cross that bridge when I come to it.
