A lot has happened since "God and a Writer" had a chat, a month ago, that kept me busy with other concerns as well as my cat blogging.
While I am working 33 to 40 hours a week, paying my rent and bills on time is an ever present concern.
In positive news my latest medical checks show that floaters in my cancer eye are related to changes in the vitreous membrane and something that many people experience with age.
In writing news 3 great things have happened:
Response has been encouraging to Opinionated Pussycat speaking out on the serious issue of stray cats and dogs in Houston as reported in the local newspaper.
Elvira & Sneakers were interviewed by Mousebreath Magazine and the blog was the featured blog on the latest edition of the Pet Parade (Sash & Dash).
Last August Amanda Socci, my friend and creative writing "drill sergeant" had profiled me and posed 9 questions to me for each of my five blogs (3 of which are retired), as part of her 10 month "I know I Can" training series for Nina Amir's Write Nonfiction Now and Write Nonfiction in November efforts.
I wrote at the time: "She has asked me a lot of serious questions, questions that deal with helping me better understand my creativity (Why I write what I write and wrote in the past) and explain it to readers, give me incentive to think about how I blog and how I can maybe organize what I write into well-defined categories, and more.
She also poses questions that encourage me to continue learning new things, and think, in a more serious and detailed way, about sharing my decade of content in new venues that will reach a wider audience and earn me an income.
All of these are things I have begun to think about, in the past 2 years, write about, a little, on this blog and discuss with her and other friends, just as encouraging as she has been."
I had intended to respond by the end of September, if not sooner, but so much has happened that this response never came to pass.
For that I apologize to her. She put in some remarkable time and effort to explore my blogs and a lot of thought went into formulating her questions.
As I finally tackled those questions, last month, I began to understand that maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind and just plain not ready, to tackle the complex questions she asked until now.
In addition to this blog (begun in 2007) and Opinionated Pussycat (begun in 2010), I wrote 3 other blogs: Sneakeasy's Joint (2002 -2007), The Cycling Dude (2003-2010) and Social Media for Critter Bloggers: A 365 Day Project (That almost made it through 4 months of 2013, hee, hee!)
Read her profile of me here, with those 45 questions:
Just in time for my 54th birthday, March 5th, I will begin sharing my answers, via 5 blog posts, beginning tomorrow.
The days I spent working on my answers involved some of the most difficult thinking and writing I've done.
It was not easy. I found myself going places, in my answers, I never expected to go.
I invite you to come along on the journey and toss in your 2 bitcoins worth in the comments. :-D
