What a day!
In the morning I found a bank where I may be able to move my IRA to from CA. I talked with a young Asst. VP/ Lobby Mgr. who took my info and will set me up to chat with a financial advisor.
We had a nice chat about my situation and he gave me advice on how to network locally and how temp jobs for the season are a big thing in Houston as well.
He took my cards...Oh and we chatted about our immigrant heritage...He was born in Iran, and his family came here when he was a child.
In the evening I had technical issues with my computer to resolve from the other day, and it won't be until tomorrow that I can learn more.
Meanwhile, inbetween, I learned that legendary Hostess, of Irving TX., is no more after 80+ yrs.
Twinkies are no more, Ding Dongs are no more, Wonder Bread is no more, all because the Baker's Union ignored the Teamsters and persuaded its 18,500 members to go on strike over an 8% pay cut.
Now they have a 100% pay cut to deal with, just in time for the holidays. Idiots!
I am grateful for all three, but especially for Ding Dongs.
From my childhood, through College, all three were a regular part of my life, and after college I kept up my love affair with Ding Dongs. :-D
When I heard the news it dawned on me that I'd not had a Ding Dong in at least a year, and a Twinkie in even longer a time.
Hope I can buy both, tomorrow, for old time sake, when I go get the newspaper. :-D

Oh, so you're a Hostess boy, huh? I'm a huge ding dong fan, too, although I never cared much for Twinkies. You're not going to like my reply, but I will say it anyway.
Are you ready to challenge yourself to try to bake some cakes on your own? Yes, it involves some nice flour and a simple cake mold, but boy will you be happy with the results!

I have various baking pans I bought last year, even a 7 speed electic hand mixer...still haven't used them, though, but at least the intent is there. :-D
