ELVIRA'S BAR and GRILL
ADVERTISEMENT FOUND IN A LOCAL WEEKLY OF MIXED REPUTE: Elvira's...Where the entertainment's lively, the customers (Especially the regulars!) even livelier and where the Bartender never runs out of your favorite libation (She's got 'em all, just test her, we dare ya!).
South of the outer limits of imagination, beyond the twilight zone of most dreamscapes, day or night (Our doors never close.), pay us a visit and experience an ever changing gallery of suprises...
In November 2007 I asked readers for their thoughts on the original 2 chapters of a story idea I had, on several levels, especially those readers who were writers and storytellers.
Never have gotten much of a response, however I am eternally optimistic and hopeful. :-D
Now, while I still want feedback on the above...
In the past 2 years another notion has wormed its way into my thinking, but never made much progress: Use my cat writing creativity as a way to possibly re-awaken The Storyteller somehow.
In recent months, as regular readers know, I've made new friends in writing who have been quite encouraging, and complimentary, about my writing, and my creative hopes and dreams.
On July 25th I spent 2 hours wandering around Irvine Regional Park one evening. I wrote in my journal, spent time thinking about my hopes for the future, from relocating to Texas to ideas for future blogging, asking the Great Creator for guidance (I tried asking a Peacock, or 3, but they were not inclined to share their thoughts, or stand still for photos.). One thing I read was some old notes I'd dug out about The Storyteller.
A couple of days ago, while eating out for lunch, inspiration struck me, and I began to write....
Somewhere, deep in the heart of flyover country, south of the outer limits of imagination, beyond the twilight zone of most dreamscapes, where the road to creativity passes through neighborhoods only the bravest souls dare to venture into, sits Elvira's Bar and Grill, a legendary watering hole where poets and tellers of tales come to either shine brightly or fade away into obscurity.
It has been a long tme since anyone last dared to take to either the main stage, or the Poet's Corner.
It is a dark and stormy night, the customers long gone, only an ageless, petite, yet regal and confident, golden-toed, Tortie feline makes her way across the floor. She pauses, sitting to gaze thoughtfully at the creative heart of this establishment, remembering the last time she saw HIM, a look of pain on his face as he hobbled out the door on crutches, his right ankle in a cast.
Even then it had been a long time since she'd last seen him, since he'd last graced this place with a performance upon the stage. There had been rumors that he'd had an unfortunate encounter with a mysterious black cat, but no one was able to substantiate the story.
He had come by, that night, to say that he needed to take a journey, destination unknown, to recover what he called his "Creative Mojo".
Suddenly there was a huge clap of thunder, the room lighting up briefly from a burst of lightning sharing its brightness through the windows...
The cat turned her gaze toward the sound of footsteps just beyond the front door...
As Elvira, mistress of this establishment, watched, the door slowly opened and a dark haired figure, all in black, stepped into the room, dripping water on the floor...

Hi Kiril:
I'm delighted to provide feedback on your creative endeavors, but I'm just not understanding. You have combined two distinct concepts in this blog post, but I'm not really understanding the connection. In the top part of this blog post, you would like feedback, but on what? In the bottom part of the blogpost, you are talking about a storyteller. Who is the storyteller?
Sorry, can you explain some more details a bit clearly?

Hi, Amanda!
In the first part is a link to my original call for feedback, in 2007.
In THAT post is an explanation of what I'm attempting, with links to Storyteller 1 and Storyteller 2 that are intended to be read in that order.
By the time you read all 3 posts you should understand what's going on. :-D
Comments are encouraged on all 3, as well as this post, once they are read.
As for just WHO The Storyteller is...Well, um, even I am still unsure who he is and where he came from. :-D
The inspiration for "Elbie's Bar and Grill" was one of the original message boards I had joined at Time Online, between 1998 and 2001, the denizens of which brought me out of a long time personal and creative, shell, even invited me into their lives locally in several cases, and via a wedding trip to phoenix in 2000, and a labor day weekend baseball gathering in Chicago in 2001.
