Creative Inspiration! :-D
I had not been to Knott's Berry Farm at least since some time in the 90's, maybe much earlier, and with the opportunity of free admission, with a $20 New Toy purchase & donation, I decided now was as good a time as any for a return engagement.
I have old photos of my Mom, and her brothers, visiting the place in the 1950's, playing dress up, and having a blast.
Last Saturday began clear, and a little breezy, but by the time I got there it had clouded up, and was sprinkling. It soon stopped, however, and held off until I was headed home in the evening.
It was a much needed, very special, day.
I went not to go on any of the rides (Roller Coasters, & I, are not compatable, hee, hee!), but to soak in the atmosphere, & take in the performances of fellow creative artists performing in the stage shows, and working various booths, and in the Christmas parade.
It was a fun, relaxing, afternoon, that sparked my creativity in several ways...one voluntarily, & one where I found myself "Drafted" into performing.
( And of course poetically...

I walked around the Ghost Town, and Old West Village, sitting, & resting my ankle often.
I experienced the hilarious Wild West Stunt Show, and the amusing, yet contemplative, Mystery Lodge Indian Storyteller Show, and the entertaining Aztec Dance Trio performance.
Oh, and there was the Calico Saloon Show, and my being "Drafted" into the performance... :-D
Is that what took place when I found myself drafted into the Calico Saloon Show? The show featured the song, dance, & humorous antics, of a "Newlywed couple" during Christmas and, at one point, he exits stage right. She comes down off the stage, into the audience, and looks straight at me... I smile, and wave impishly, right back at her, and she asks if I was married, or single, I don't remember, and I replied I was single, and there alone. She reaches out her hand, pulls me up in front, drapes herself, and her red scarf all over me, asking me my name. I smile, explain to her how to say it, and she does it perfectly, telling me, and the audience, it just happened to be her favorite name. As she continues on, dancing, and singing, with me in her arms, saying what, I don't remember, I mug, responding the best I can, all grins. She asks me to sing with her, I manage a few lines, and suddenly her "husband" re-enters, all cranky that she's hanging with another dude. I peek out in his direction, smile, and give a dainty little wave, that makes the audience laugh, and he comes closer, sees my 2nd wave, hears the audience laugh again, reacts to it in a funny way, and she responds in a way that tries to explain our relationship, as she sends me back to my seat, and they continue their skit, kiss and make up, and head into the finale.... :-D
Julia Cameron writes that "Dependency on the Creator Within is the only route to real intimacy with other human beings".
Afterwards several people told me I was wonderful, and they thought I was seriously part of the cast, at first, I did so well.
I told them I am sort of a comedian, humorist, and storyteller, though mostly on my blogs, who has done Open Mic a couple of times, and given a couple of presentations, but hadn't "acted", or "performed" a part since my school days.
I asked the audience if anyone got pictures, and a man told me he caught the performance on video, but couldn;t guarantee the quality, or how much of me he got, but he'd send it to me.
I gave him my card, and hope he remembers, and doesn't lose the card. :-D
A lady let me wear her own red scarf, and took a picture of me next to the stage, which at least verifies I was in the room, in case I never get the video. :-D
It all happened so fast, but I felt comfortable up there, and enjoyed every minute of the experience.
Earlier in the day I made a decision, and spent some money on something that was also inspired by my "Creator Within", that captures my creative side in a wonderful way, and will serve as an inspirational daily reminder of who I am, and aspire to be, what I've accomplished, and what I somehow hope to accomplish, as a writer, Blogger/Pajama Journalist, humorist, and storyteller.
It will blow you away, I guarandamtee it! :-D
I plan to reveal it, and 3 small stone message magnets I also bought, on Meowsings of Opinionated Pussycat, on New Year's Day, the 2nd Anniversary of our Cat Blog.
All 4 of these items are meant to also be "Chrisssymouse" Gifts for Nikita, and Elvira, but they will just have to wait until New Year's Eve. :-D
Anyway, the day was a lot of fun, and I even had one shop minder tell me he saw another man wander in wearing the same shirt I was. :-D
