The Long Beach Convention Center is a big place, and can play host to several events at the same time.
My friend Randy Eady, & I, visited 2 such events. (Coming in late? Begin here!)
The KNBC 4 Your Health Expo was an interesting experience.
Randy, & I, spent 90 minutes exploring, separate, and together, and there was a lot to see and experience.
There was a Demonstration Stage where all sorts of products were shown, and discussed.
The 74 exhibitors were a varied, and interesting lot, from the simple, to the technical, complex, and expensive, to the New Age, and head scratching. ;-D
There were cooking products, and demos, and products promoting the health of every part of the body, from those you know , to those you didn't even know you had, internal, and external. ;-D
There were also a variety of Health Screenings, & services, to be found.
You could even pretend to be interviewed, live from the scene, by the legendary local weatherman, Fritz Coleman.
I did so, and came away with a video on which I supposedly told all of LA that I was there on behalf of my 2 cats, & their blog, Meowsings of an Opinionated Pussycat. ;-D
Can't play it on my computer yet, though, as I don't seem to have the needed program. ;-D
The Alchemy Convention was interesting....weird, too! ;-D
Spending an hour there, on the last day, didn't give me the best chance to experience the full flavor of it, but did give me a channce to to leisurely explore all of the booths in a near empty hall.
First, the interesting, & I mean this in the best possible way...
So-called "Alternative" Medicine ranges from the ancient & culturally based, , and more modern research based, and proven, that have demonstrated benefits, and staying power....to the downright weird, unproven, and fraudulent.
At this event the curious had the opportunity to explore this side of physical, mental, and spiritual, healthcare for themselves, from products, discussions, and demos, to books, and videos, galore.
The truly weird, though, was what was allowed to share exhibit space with all this, and thus, in my view, only gave supportive "evidence" for those who want to dismiss ALL alternative practioners as a whole, as crackpots.
There were several booths selling books, magazines, videos, and audio tapes, on every conspiracy theory imaginable, including on subjects you never even dreamed of.
There was stuff that would even give Art Bell, and George Noory, of Coast to Coast fame, headaches. ;-D
So much BS...not enough Litter Boxes. ;-D
After going down to the beach,, where a Pirates Renaisance Fair was going on, and deciding the cost to enter was too much ($10), Randy, & I ended the day by going into downtown, and having dinner at the Rockbottom Brewery.
There was a very determined Pigeon hanging out in the outdoor dining area, near where we were seated, and it was funny to watch him hunt, and peck, for the tiniest morsel. ;-D
After dinner I said good-bye to Randy, who was heading south into San Diego County, to advise someone he met at the Alchemy Convention on Saturday, about a Garden the person was planning, and then he was heading off to Canada for a presentation he was to make later in the week.
All in all, it was great to see Randy again, and to explore these 2 diverse conventions.
