The 30-Day Sit Spot Challenge is a way for you to connect with the depth of the natural world through one spot in the nature.
You can learn more about this 20 min. a Day Exercise, and why I think the experience can provide interesting opportunities for Writing Prompts, in the Introductory Post, and then follow the link, at the end of each post, to the next chapter.
Question #12: What does the word Maria have to do with the Moon?
Quote to Ponder:
My barn having burned to the ground, I can now see the Moon
- Chinese Proverb
It rained Tuesday night but, unlike the previous storm, no lake was to be found at my Sit Spot yesterday morning. ;-D
I always wondered what the dark parts of the Moon were, and a quick check of the NASA website gave me the answer:
"The dark areas on the moon are known as maria (MAHR ee uh). The word maria is Latin for seas; its singular is mare (MAHR ee). The term comes from the smoothness of the dark areas and their resemblance to bodies of water."
Thinking about the Quote of the Day I can't help but see a connection with the one from yesterday.
Becoming a Blogger, in 2002, was the Moon I needed to see, as the struggles of my past (The burrning barn) receeded.
Seeing the Moon, however, doesn't mean knowing how to take advantage of the view, & put it to use.
I still don't know how to do more than I've done already, as a Blogger, and writer, but I have ideas, and I want to find ways to learn new skill, and implement them.
