This will be the next to last blog post of mine on Musings of a Mad Macedonian!

If you are, for some reason, unaware of the the Big News, don't feel guilty, 80% of the Cat Blogosphere, and 110% of the Dogosphere, are as well, and our Fine Feathered Frieds no doubt think all the excitement is, to put it mildly, NOT For the Birds, um, hee, hee! ;-D

Wassup, Doc? And, Yes, Change is Coming to Musings in 2010!

As the year comes to an end, and a huge change comes to the Musings Blog, some things stay the same.

I have a pulse, my blood pressure is normal, and my EKG...well, I don't undersand what all the squiggly lines mean, but the Doc was happy.

The Doc stuck his fist up my butt, and seemed happy with what he found there, too! ;-D

Once the Blood, and other, um, bodily fluid samples are tested I'll know more about the current state of my health.

I plan to get the H1N1 Flu Shot, and find out if I need to get my eyes checked, and new prescription glasses as well.

About that change...

As Nikita mentioned, the other day, I got him a Christmas Present. ;-D

The move has already begun.

The name has been chosen, the Domain Name secured, the design of his new home, here on Typepad, chosen, and his Blogrolls, and advertising, moved to the new joint.

This is Change Nikita and I both believe in, and we Hope to make his blog a success, and a place other Felines, their Humans, and Cat Lovers everywhere, will want to check out on a regular basis.

Meowsings of an Opinionated Pussycat 32: A Christmas Gift from Daddy!

A few months after I was born, in March 1998, Daddy and I entered the Computer Age by joining a long since defunct Message Board Community on the old Time Magazine website.

In 2002 Daddy became a Blogger, and it was not long before I was posting on the blog as well.

My participation evolved over the years, gradually increasing.

By the time Daddy made the decision to close that blog, in the Fall of 2007, he and I had decided to make me a Co-Blogger whose name appeared in the credits part of my posts, and allow me to increase my participation as the inspiration struck me.

Since then I've increased the frequency of my postings, and expanded my section of the sidebars.

Along the way I've become a frequent host of Carnival of the Cats, and been linked, and praised by bloggers in various ways, and become a Calendar Pin-Up Kitty.

We noticed that my efforts have not just been well received, and get people, and Cats, to leave comments, but have led to spikes in the traffic for the blog.

The reaction to my posts of the last few weeks got us to talking about whether it was time to take the next step and set me up on a blog all my own, like most of the blogs in the Cat Blogosphere, including many of the very best there are.

While I napped all day Daddy was online, and each time I awoke he stopped what he was doing, and so I had no clue of the surprise that awaited me this evening.

He woke me, and showed me the page the computer was turned to, and I was stunned, and then overcome with such emotion it is hard to describe.

There it was...My own Blog!!!

What a cool Chrissymouse Gift! ;-D

The name was just the one I had told him I wanted to use, if given the chance, and the description, under the title, is a part funny, and part serious, description of the purpose of, and the goals I have for, the place.

I hope to introduce the place on, or about, January 3rd.

My Blogrolls and Links, and Amazon Ads, will move there, and certain of my old posts from the last 2 years, will appear there through out the month, as originally written, or updated, among them posts about me, and my poems, and stories.

I want these pieces to serve not only as a way to introduce me to new readers, but give old fans a chance to discover some things they might never have read.

I have big plans for 2010!

I will host Carnival 12 times (The 1st will be 1/17), and Weekend Cat Blogging 10 times (The 1st will be 1/22-1/24), and hope to even help out with the Bad Kitty Festival as well.

The growing number, and variety, of the links in my blogrolls will give me a lot to choose from as places to get post ideas, and as places to write about, and comment on.

I won't be the first Cat Blogger to find the inspiration to blog about, and comment on news stories, websites, and blogs, but I intend to add my unique voice to that side of our Community, as best I know how, and with the continued help, and encouragement, of Daddy behind the scenes.

The websites and blogs, videos, newspaper columns, TV and Radio Shows, and Podcasts of others have a lot to teach us Felines, and our Humans, and the variety, I'm slowly learning, is truly astounding.

Oh, and there will be more videos on YouTube, as well, to compliment my photos on the blog, hee, hee! ;-D 

I am very excited about this, and I hope you, my fans, and regular readers, are as well!

Dear Mr. President, and Both Houses of Congress: About those Health Care Plans of Yours...

I rarely blog politics, as I've explained:

NOT EXACTLY SITTING IDLY BY: A Word From Me.

This is one of those exceptions.

As I sit here, on my day off, reading troubling new reports coming out just today, watching the day, and night, long debate in the Senate, and the brave, info rich, principled fight put up by Senate Republicans, I was moved to toss in my 2 cents, and e-mail the Prez, my Congressional Rep, the Senators of my state, the Senate and House Leaders, and a certain Senator Nelson.

Each will also get a copy of my letter sent by Snail Mail, once I make copes tomorrow, with the one for Sanchez delivered to her office, a few miles from my home, personally by me, Tuesday Morning.

The letter:

Dear Mr. President, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Leader Harry Reid, and Senators Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, and Ben Nelson:

You have my disgust and disdain forever, you socialist cowards.

I want you to know that I, and millions of other concerned, patriotic, Americans, are not stupid enough to think a “carefully designed system” is what you Democrats are about to drop on us without our support.

You senators and congresspersons, as well as President Obama, don’t give one hoot in hell what the American people want.

Engels and Marx have the run of both houses of Congress, and in the White House.

Over the last 2 years I've read up on the Healthcare Debate, relying on politicians, journalists, commentators, researchers, and ordinary citizen bloggers, nationwide, to help me understand the travesty that you all want to force on America.

What they have discovered, revealed, and explained, scares the hell out of me, and makes me fear for the future of this nation as the free, and powerful Republic it was born as, and meant to be.

The Guiding Light of Freedom is slowly being snuffed out in so many ways, day by day, and the Healthcare Plans of the House & Senate, all the work of Democrats, ignoring input from Republicans, and especially concerned ordinary Americans by the millions, is just one part of the horror.

It is insane what you are doing in the middle of the night, with few politicians, and even fewer ordinary citizens, having thoroughly disected, and deliberated, the contents of these bills, in the open, transparent, light of day so all can see what is in the bill.

You call yourselves "The Worlds Greatest Deliberative Body"???

You all said there was going to be negotiation on CSPAN for all to see.

In the immortal words of Joe Wilson...YOU LIE!!!

How dare you, and the government you run, use our money to sell us out and keep us paying more and more for our enslavement!

Way to go socialist democrats. History will vilify you in ways we can’t even think of.

Career politicians, like you, need to go, and the sooner the better.

The only way to solve our problem is to fire every elected official and start over.

How dare you ignore the opinions of ordinary, concerned, Americans!

I say, again, we need to turn every one of you traitorous bastards out.

I believe that the corruption of the deliberative process over the Healthcare issue gives complete lie to ANY pretense that government can run health care in a non-corruptible way.

You all have betrayed We the People.

You are intent on converting our Free Country into a Socialist State, and I will not sit idly by, and let that happen.

I will protest in the street every chance I can.

This Tea Party attendee, and supporter, in my very humble way, will write letters like this one, and will use such online venues as Stumble Upon, and Twitter, to fight back in words, and links to the words of others, so as to spread information folks need to know to defeat you, as well as continue to keep up my Food For Thought Links Collection in the sidebar of my blog so as to inform anyone who visits, and I will vote against you at election time.

As a Conservative Republican, who once, long ago, was a Reagan Democrat in the 80's, then a Clintonista in the 90's, I believe we need a return to solid Reaganesque leadership in the Conservative movement to unite our numbers and take back the GOP, and then our beloved country back before it's too late.

Meowsings of an Opinionated Pussycat 30: Cats and Bicycles

As readers of Musings know Daddy is a bicyclist, and Bike Blogger, at The Cycling Dude.

Also, as everyone knows, some Dogs love to chase bicycles as much as they do nice people who bring the mail, maybe more! ;-D

Well, ever wonder what Felines think of bicycles?

I went in search of the answer! ;-D

There has long been a photo making the rounds, online, that supposedly shows a cat riding a bike, but since the bike is unseen, and Daddy says that there is absolutely no such thing as an invisible bicycle, I doubt the legitimacy of this photo.

Yes, we Cats have all of the balance and coordination needed to ride a bicycle, but to say we lack the motivation to do so, or have no interest in the vehicles at all, is just plain false!

The family of the writer of the blog Lovely Bicycle shares its life with 2 Cats, and has started a photo gallery, and is looking for submissions:

We have two cats, and they both love to sniff and investigate our bicycles.

After a reader sent me a photo of his own cat examining his vintage Raleigh, I decided to start a gallery.

If you would like to share a photo of your cat with your bike, please send it to the address at the bottom of this post.

What next? If they are allowed outdoors will they make like Fido, chasing the rider of the bike down the block? ;-D

Here's a shot of a Cat on an island off the coast of Ireland, checking out a bicycle.

This Cat shows that at least some of us absolutely DO think we are capable of riding a bicycle, having gone so far as to sit in the saddle. ;-D

Upons further research I've come upon apparent proof that some Cats actually make their living riding bikes!

No, I'm not using catnip while blogging!

I found an article, from 2008, about the Kuklachev family.

For over 20 years they have run the Moscow Cat Theatre, where Felines are the stars of the stage!

According to this piece the cats ride bicycles and skateboards!

A Google, and Youtube, search of "Moscow Cats Theatre" turns up a goldmine of video, and articles, as well as the official website for the troupe!

A mix of English, and Russian, the site still is fun, and I saw a Cat on a Skateboard, and 2 Cats on a Skateboard, and Clowns on Bikes, with a couple of Cats fooling around, but not actually riding the bikes themselves.

Haven't found any Cats pedaling a bike on video, or in a picture, yet, but there must be something somewhere! ;-D

Meowsings of an Opinionated Pussycat 27: Oh My God! I'm A Pin-Up Kitty!

For several years, now, the folks (Human and Feline) at The Cat Blogosphere, and House of the (Mostly) Black Cats (They run the Cat Blogosphere Goodies Store at CafePress), have put together wonderful Calendars featuring photos of members of the Cat Blogging Communtiy, with every month featuring a handful of the most coolest images of Felines a Cat lover could imagine.

Earlier this year word went out that submissions were being taken for pictures of Cats Who Blog, for the 2010 Edition of the CatBlogosphere Calendar.

Daddy submitted 2 of his favorite pictures of me, not really sure they would be included.

I mean, I don't exactly Blog everyday (My New Years Resolution is to blog much more, and I have plans, and ideas!), and the blog as a whole is not even entirely mine to play in, like many Cats.

Anyway, I just learned, on visiting the Cat Blogosphere Website, that the Calendar is now for sale, and imagine our surprise when we discovered that both of my pics made the August Photo Spread! ;-D

What an honor!

I'm a Mr. August 2010 Hunk of sublime Cat Flesh for the ladies to meow, and purr, over for all of 2010!

Among some Cats there is something special afoot, this Chrissymouse Season: Secret Paws.

Skittles, The Huntress, of the blog The Whole Kitten Kaboodle, is the mastermind, and facilitator of all the fun, and explains what Secret Paws is all about:

 "Secret Paws is a fun game! You submit your name by the deadline, and you will be paired up with your Secret Paw. Your Secret Paw won’t know who you are until the big day! Then you send them a nice Chrissymouse present in the mail (under $10.00). And guess what???? You will be someone’s Secret Paw too! And you will get a Chrissymouse present as a surprise!

Secret Paws is fun, and a nice way to celebrate Chrissymouse and make new furriends."

When I learned of it, last month, I sent my info before the deadline and, soon, I received the name, and address, of the Cat I would be sending gifts to.

Daddy had recently discovered a new Pet Store in Belmont Shores so I sent him there to find appropriate gifts, something not often found in the usual Chain Stores.

He did not disappoint. ;-D

As everyone packs things up for mailing there is a special blog for us to share pictures, while not giving away who we are sending to, and then later to share pictures of when we get our gifts in the mail, and open them!

The fun has already started. ;-D 

I've already packed, and shipped, and want to share some photos.

It was a Major Production, let me tell you, and a lot of work! 

Daddy got me a box from UPS, and I grabbed a piece of paper for the address, a marker, 5 of Daddy's rubber stamps, an ink pad, scissors, and mailing tape, and set to work.

You can see me getting everything together in this picture.

The Pet Shop Daddy went to is real fancy, and even has a Diner for Cats and Dogs, if you can believe it!

They put the purchases in this real cool bag...real cool...

It was soooo cool that I was tempted to keep it for myself, but in the end decided to toss it in the box with the other gifts knowing that Daddy would be going to the store again, and again, and... ;-D

First thing was to get the gifts out of the bag...

Which took a little effort on my part!

Daddy offered to help, but I insisted on doing everything myself.

I told him to go play with his camera, and I'd call him when I was done!

I finally got everything out of the bag, and in the box, all that needed doing was putting the bag inside, sealing the bag, and stamping the hell out of it with Daddy's stamps.

I'll leave it to the recipient to share what the stamps are, and the contents of the box, and will link to their story at the right time. ;-D

 Yesterday Daddy and I took the box to the Post office, and sent it on it's way!

Me, you say? I thought you were an Indoor Only Cat, you say!

I am, except for those opportunities when I don't have to be. ;-D

As regular readers know...

I have a variation of what is known, in the Feline Community, as Cheshirism.

Yes, as this haloween 2007 post explains, and illustrates...I'm a Cheshire Cat. ;-D

In the past I never had the oppportunity to go out with Daddy, in what I call my "Cheshire Mode", because he could not find a leash that met my high standards.

In Feb. 2008 he finally found one to my liking, and off we went. ;-D

We had not found another opportunity to go out, until yesterday (We intend to find more in 2010!).

That's me sticking my head out of the bag Daddy brought along for when we were on the bus (See! Just below Daddy's arm!).

As usual the Humans looked at us kind of funny.

Only another Cat Person (or most of them anyway) would recognize me in Cheshire Mode, but after 2 excursions we have not encountered anyone who did.

The Bus Drivers didn't hassle Daddy because, as far they were concerend, all Daddy had was a bag with a leash inside of it, and I kept my mouth shut. ;-D 

If a Bus Driver DOES eventually recognise me I imagine he, or she, will keep their mouths shut, too, for fear of freaking out the passengers, and being thought of as weird. ;-D

After 90 minutes we finally arrived at the post office, which can be seen across the street in the above picture.

The package should arrive at its destination in 3 to 5 business days. ;-D 

As soon as we got home I took a nap with the Box holding my own gift, from my own Secret Paws, that had arrived the day before, next to me...but more about that still un-opened package later. ;-D
