Thanks to a Freedom of Information Act Request, recently made by me, I am able to finally make public, after 27 long years, a long supressed fragment of an investigation into a quite horrible crime.
I am hoping to present more about the main players in this story, someday (Yes, I do believe there is more out there to be learned about this case, and events before, and after, this report.), but, for now, this will have to do.
INTERROGATION REPORT ON GREGORIE ESTES
VICTIM: Sadie Bogato
INVESTIGATOR/INTERROGATOR: Juri Kesundheitiev, Elay PD, Elay, Ca.
DATE: May 15, 1982
TIME STARTED: 10AM
TIME CONCLUDED: 330PM
I am Officer Juri Kesundheitiev of the Elay PD, and I am the investigating officer assigned to the case of the murder of a female named Sadie Bogato.
The female was found beaten, and apparently raped, near the 9th hole of the Hidden Hole Country Club and Golf Course, 18th Road, East Elay, Ca., early on the morning of May 2nd, 1982.
No investigative leads were developed for the case until earlier today, May 15th, 1982 when, at 10am, a man by the name of Eduerdo Estes, age 60, came into my office, and disclosed to me that he was extremely worried about his son's (Gregorie, 22) involvement in the case.
He stated that his son claims to have found the body before the police did, and caused his clothing to become bloody by rolling the victim over to see if she was alive. He burned his clothing a few days later.
Discovering that young Gregorie got out of class at 1130am, at Cal State University Elay, I went to the campus to question him.
When he left the classroom I approached and identified myself, at which point he blurted out, "I did it. I'll tell you about it, only take me somewhere else."
I obliged the young man by giving him a ride to the police station where I then took him into my office, and advised him of his rights. This was at 1230pm, and immediately following , he proceeded to voluntarily give a complete, uninterrupted, account of his actions.
Afterward I performed an interrogation, the substance of which is completely written out in the following pages.
The interrogation was done not only to get as clear, and precise, a story as possible in written form, from Gregorie, but to clear up loose ends, and use in court.
SIGNED: Juri Kesundheitiev, Parker Center, Rm. 410.
WITNESS (TYPIST): Lydia Quickfinger
Subsequent portions of this report were signed by the Subject as required.

SUBJECT: Gregorie Estes.
TIME BEGUN: 130PM
Q: Gregorie, as I told you earlier, my name is Juri Kesundheitiev, and I am here to discuss with you the story that you finished telling me a few minutes earlier.
S: Juri, What? I still can't believe your last name! I know I'm in serious trouble, but that last name of yours just blows my mind.
Q: I unerstand. In all my years in school I always enjoyed seeing the reactions of my teachers trying to cope with my last name.
S: I sympathize with them.
Q: You stated that you are a student at Cal State University Elay, correct?
S: Yes, it is. I'm a Philosophy Major.
Q: You know, I got my BS degree there a while back.
S: No kidding!
Q: No. Say, does the Rec Room still exist in the Student Union? I used to enjoy the pinball machines alot.
S: It sure does, but the games are more computerized.
Q: Did you know Sadie Bogato very well?
S: As well as could be expected considering we only had one class together. I'd never talked to her before. I thought she was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen, but I never asked her out.
Q: Why not?
S: She never said anything, but her eyes would get an amused look in them whenever she caught me looking in her direction, and if she was with a friend she would say something, and they would laugh. It made me so mad I just didn't try to become friendly with her.
Q: I see. Now, on May 1st, what time did you leave work?
S: Well, since I only have morning classes, I work in the afternoon. I got off at 7pm, just in time to catch the bus home. I got home at 745pm.
Q: What did you do when you got home?
S: It had been a rough day, that I remember. An old lady came in around 5pm, and ordered 16 Big Macs, and then didn't want to pay. It took us an hour to get it all straightened out. By the time I got home I had a whopper of a migraine.
Q: What did you do?
S: Well, like I said, I always go fo a walk when I get a migraine. I went down the street to Hidden Hole Country Club, and walked up and down the line path of their golf course for a while.
Q: Was that when you met Sadie?
S: No, that was a little later. I saw Holmes sleeping in his guard house though. He isn't like either of his namesakes that's for sure.
S: Yes, you know, the night watchman at the place. His name's Sherlock H. Watson. Now THAT'S a funny name!
Q: Yes, I see what you mean. what do next?
S: Well, I then walked under the tunnel, onto the golf course itself, and after a while went into the rain shelter.
Q: What time was it then?
S: About 9pm. It was then I saw her.
Q: Saw Sadie?
S: Yes. She was walking toward me with ehr dog, a mexican Hairless wearing a tiny sweater for dogs. If I hadn't been so surprised at seeing Sadie I would have laughed.
Q: What did you do then?
S: Well, and this is the truth, I originally menat to just play a joke, as revenge for her treatment of me at school. As she walked along the path, I waited until she was out of sight, behid the trees, before going over to the green, and waiting behind some trees.
S: I figured when she came back i'd jump her. She came back, and I walked through the hedge, and rean up behind her, and tried to knock her out. That's when it happened. She turned just as I was going to hit her, and began to struggle.
S: Yes, she kicked me where it hurts, and it sure did! I was so mad I reached up and hit her on the jaw, and tried to strangle her. I wasn't tall enough to get a good grip, almost.
Q: What happened then? Did she still continue to struggle?
S: No, not at first. I thought she was dead, and dragged her over to the hedge where I tried to have intercourse with her. She was still alive, though, so I picked up a golf club lying in the bushes, and hit ehr in an effort to kill her. I hit ehr several times until we were both covered with blood.
Q: What did you do next?
S: I was so scared I ran across the railway line, and took the shortcut to my backyard, through the woods to the Hatfield By-pass, and through Bridgefoot Lane.
Q: About what time would you say you left the scene?
S: It was about 10pm.
Q: Did she say anything while she was struggling with you?
S: I remember that while we were struggling she screamed, and talked to her dog which ran away. She called the dog Hercules. To me she said, "You silly boy, you'll only get into trouble". That made me mad, I hit her, and she hurt her back on a steel post.
Q: Do you remember anything else?
S: Yes, I put my hand around her throught, and tried to strangle her, like I said. When I dragged her over to the hedge I undressed her. Her coat, and blouse were torn in the struggle. I ripped off most of her underclothes. When she came to i took off one of her stockings, but it broke when I put it around her neck.
Q: What did you do then?
S: I hit her with a piece of wood, which I found under the hedge. The wood broke as well I hit her with the golf club until I was sure she was dead.
Q: Do you remember anything else? What was she wearing?
S: I remember she was wearing a red coat, and red shoes. I put the coat over her face as she was bringing up blood. I wiped my hands on her coat, blouse, and pants. I threw the pants to one side. After I left the golf course I washed most of the blood off my clothes in the stream at the end of Bridgefoot Lane.
Q: What time did you arrive home?
S: 15 minutes until 11, I think it was.
Q: What did you do? Were your parents awake?
S: When I got home my parents were in bed.
Q: What about the next day? You said your parents were curious?
S: Well, the next morning I told them that I'd cut my arm around the garage. I'd cut my arm with a razorblade, that night, and showed the cut to my parents to explain the blood on my clothes, because they asked me how it came to be there.
I told my Mother, a few days later, that I'd found this girl, and just picked her up to see if she was still alive, to explain the blood to explain the blood on my clothes. My Mother told this to my Father, some days later, when we burned my clothes.
Q: OK, Gregorie, I have no further questions to ask you. If you will just glance over each of these pages to make sure nothing was left out that you wanted said, and then sign your name on each one, that will be all, and Officer Homer Pile, out in the hall, will escort you out.
The foregoing statements concerning THE MURDER OF SADIE BOGATO are the truth to the best of my knowledge, and belief. I have read each page, and have signed each one. The contents are the truth to the best of my knowledge.
