Here you are, passing by your neighborhood Bicycle Shop one day, when what should you see?
4 beat up, and battered, spandex clad, cyclists, on crutches, and in casts, sitting, and standing, in front of the place, a window full of spiffy looking bikes on display behind them...
To get you in the right frame of mind for this sing-a-long, sit back, and enjoy the masters at work...Gloom, Despair, and and Agony on Me. ;-D
Zoom! Corvair! (Yes, just like with Hee Haw, there is an OHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! after each of the 1st 3 lines!)
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!
Two broken arms, and a busted knee!
If it weren't for my other bike, I'd have no bike at all!
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!
We figured the car would pass, giving us room to the hilt
And we figured the driver would see that to do anything else would mean we might be kilt
'Cause the road was two lane, and to our right was a cliff
How was we to know he didn't care if our blood was spilt?
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!
Two broken arms, and a busted knee!
If it weren't for my other bike, I'd have no bike at all!
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!

Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!
Two broken arms, and a busted knee!
If it weren't for my other bike, I'd have no bike at all!
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!
We figured the car would go on by, giving us some room
And we figured the driver would see the parked cars
Meaning getting too close would spell our certain doom
How was we to know she was dabbing on make-up, causing us to see stars?
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!
Two broken arms, and a busted knee!
If it weren't for my other bike, I'd have no bike at all!
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!

Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!
Two broken arms, and a busted knee!
If it weren't for my other bike, I'd have no bike at all!
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!
We figured we had the right of way, crossing the intersection
And we figured all the drivers saw us, and were stopped
'Cause anyone could see the signs with just a cursory inspection
How was we to know that he was Texting, meaning we'd get bopped?
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!
Two broken arms, and a busted knee!
If it weren't for my other bike, I'd have no bike at all!
Zoom! Corvair! Agony for me!

Is this written from experience?
A recent experience?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Not the same experiences, but I've been a cyclist all my life, and have had my share of accidents caused by the behavior of drivers, including one that resulted in the need for dental work, and one that resulted in severe black & Blue bruises up, and down one side of my body, and so many close calls that I've lost count.
I've also seen, and been on the receiving end of, careless behavior of fellow cyclists.
On my Bike Blog the 1st post, in 2003, was about sharing the road:
Can't We All Get Along? = http://www.cyclingdude.com/2003/01/cant_we_all_get.html
All over the world cyclists have been injured, and even killed, in incidents similar to these, and even worse.
I get Google Alerts for the words Bicycling, and Cycling, and others, and far too many of the stories that Google finds are about accidents where either the motorists, or cyclist, is at fault.
On my Bike Blog, The Cycling Dude I have, for years, written about issues of cyclist safety, and Sharing the Road, and my Category Archives are full of my coverage of, and opinion, on these issues, including picture filled local stories that I personally undertook to research.
Some of this has not exactly endeared me to certain folks, both motorist, and cyclist. ;-D
I often wear a "3 Feet Please" T-Shirt, or Jersey (The words in Big Block Letters that can't be missed!), on my Commutes, and have been honked at, flipped off, and yelled at a few times in the last couple of months. ;-D
