In the Beginning God created the Heavens, the Earth, and the living creatures thereon but still felt something was missing...
After pondering on the question for a few days (A mere few billions years to lesser mortals.)...
God created MAN.
Looking at the finished product God felt something was STILL missing, and so pondered some more before reaching for the ribs of his creation, choosing one at random...
and creating WOMAN.
And God then created the COUCH so he could sit comfortably in his living room, and gaze down upon his creations, while munching on pizza, and sipping carbonated beverages, as they went about their daily lives.
Life was good...for about Three million years.
Mankind evolved to such an extent that reading, and attending theatre, and concerts no longer sufficed as sources of cultural expression, and intellectual stimulation.
One afternoon, God awoke on the Couch, looked down, and saw that Cinema had been invented by his creations, and was so interested in the show that he was distracted from other things going on among his creations.
The next week God got a surprise...
Man created Radio, then the Television, and God was so distracted by THIS developement that he again ignored other activities among his creations.
Seventy years later, by the timing of Man, TV has "proved that people will look at anything rather than each other", and become "the menace that everyone loves to hate but can't seem to live without", "that insidious beast, that Medusa which freezes a billion people to stone every night, staring fixedly, that Siren which called and sang and promised so much and gave, after all, so little", "a gold goose that lays scramble eggs", "the triumph of machine over people", by "changing a child from an irresistible force to an immovable object", and keeping the adult "masses occupied", in its role as "a god-damned amusement park ". ;-D
Collecting and watching, old TV Shows, on DVD, is an adventure in re-discovering old friends and making new ones. ;-D
