It's in the bag!
This, the latest edition of the Carnival, that is. ;-D
We've bagged a lot of fine felines for this edition, so settle down, and enjoy the show. ;-D
The Carnival of the Cats is a weekly roundup of cat-related posts on weblogs, in America, and around the world, who choose to submit a post for inclusion.
For us Cat Bloggers the Carnival is a chance to discover blogs we might never have heard of, on subjects of all kinds, and you can learn more about the carnival, and how to participate, here.
Let's get started!
1. In case your human has this notion of training you to use his, or her, litter box, Raising Whiskers says "Yes! It CAN be done!"
You, if you are so inclined, and your human, can study, then put into practice, Five Steps To Cats Toilet Training. ;-D
2 things caught my attention, and are of special concern: This post only teaches Girl Kitties, and there is no instruction concerning how to flush the toilet. ;-D
2. Blog d'Elisson poetically shares a cool photo of a neighborly Kitty of Mystery.
3. Nothing like "A Bit of Tail for Purim!"
Yup, Rahel, of Elms in the Yard, shows off her friends Pussy, in this series of wonderful collection of photos. ;-D
3A. By the way, "Pussy" is NOT a word we Felines should shun. I've mentioned this before, but Rahel gives me the perfect opportunity to talk about it again. For years, I, Daddy, and other Feline loving Humans, have been Fighting the Good Fight of reclaiming an honorable word, with a several hundred year connection to our species, from the Vulgarians: My old story will clue you in: You Adore Your Pussy, Admit it!
***3/16 - WE INTERRUPT THIS EDITION OF THE CARNIVAL FOR SOME VERY TRAGIC NEWS!***
2AM -- Yesterday evening Rahel posted sad news on her blog, regarding the beautiful star of the above story:
My friend’s cat, lovable, delightful Missy, has died. The probable cause is rat poison, which people sometimes put out in their gardens in order to deal with pests, with sometimes tragic results. It appears that this is one of those times.
Although the vet worked all morning to save her, despite his best efforts Missy died at around noon today.
I’m in shock. I still can’t get my mind around the fact that I will never see Missy again.
You can see a pictorial tribute to Missy, of Blessed Memory, and leave words of comfort, and condolence, which I'm sure all Missy's friends can use right about now.
10AM - In Response to the above Update, an e-mail sent her, and my comment, left on her post of sadness, Rahel sent me the following:
Dear Nikita,
Thank you so much for writing, and for your sensitive revision to your Carnival post.Although Missy was not my own cat, I loved her as if she had been and used to take care of her when my friend, her human companion -- who is also my neighbor --
traveled on occasion.Since my friend and I live in the same building, we see each other often, and I saw Missy nearly every day from the time that my neighbor rescued her from the local university campus and brought her home.
Thank you for your words of consolation. They give me the strength to deal with Missy's sudden and unexpected death and to offer what comfort I can to my friend, for whom Missy was family and who is mourning her loss very deeply.
All the best,
Rahel
***WE NOW RETURN YOU TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED CARNIVAL***
4. Karenyengel, of Back in San Jose, writes the following:
"I decided that we had to take Tiger with us to the United States – especially after a quick look at US customs regulations confirmed that cats don't need to be quarantined (except in Hawaii and Guam) after arrival. They don't even need a health certificate.
Sounds easy. It wasn't."
The story of the adventure she and Tiger had getting through Customs, and dealing with Immigration, and plane travel, is a fascinating, and troubling one.
5. 1 Squirrel + 2 Cats + 1 Naked, Annoyed, Sleep Deprived, Cat Owner + 1 Very Spooked Neighbor = An entertaining tale by Gal Josefsberg, called Good Neighbors. ;-D
Up next, we have another Pussy taking an, um crack, at showing some tail. ;-D
6. Perfectly Parker shares some perfectly adorable pictures, including some as part of what Parker calls...My Boo Boo Report.
7. Diamond Emerald-Eyes takes an adventure filled trip across America to visit 13 Feline Friends, each represented by simply beautiful photo montages.
8. Sir Tristan Tabby Cat Longtail, of TabbyLicious, gets all, um, spaced out, over a couple of discoveries made while exploring the Final Frontier.
9. Mark Draughn, of Windy Pundit, returns to CatBlogging, by sharing cool pics of his Kitties.
10. Mini and Boni Maroni, of House of the (Mostly) Black Cats, discuss butter, and other, um, very weighty, issues realted to a trip to the V-E-T.
11. CatSynth shares cool pics of Luna, and of a stray she saw while on a trip to China.
12. Wonderful news for the TV Addled Felines of Washington state could lead to similar good nes for the rest of American Kittydom Assembled!
From Sharyn Thoma-Guay, of the excellent news service The Kitty City Gazette (Help Spread Kitty Mayhem!):
In a press release today, Comcast Cable Corporation announced it will offer a new language option for customers living in Washington State. LOLcat will be added to the phone tree as option three for all incoming customer service calls, is to be added to the online LOLcat Customer Q&A section, and will be available for live LOLcat customer service chat...
Comcast said that this is to be a one-year beta test for the Washington State area, but that if they have good results with the new language option, they will consider a test in other states.

13. Over at StrangeRanger, the Cats are staying warm.
14. Samantha Black, of Life from a Cat's Perspective, looks out the window, and Mr. Tigger, and Maverick are havinga Mexican Stand-off!
15. Aloysius, of Catymology writes:
We all know that many humans treat their pets like children, but how many treat them like fashion models?...
It seems contradictory for Carol to play dressup with Lilly and then let her go out and cat around...
What does she think, she's Lindsay Lohan?
Read the whole, glorious, rant in Dishing on the Real Catwalk.
16. Michelle, of When Cats Attack, shares a moving story that illustrates why it is important that all Kitties should welcome those tsometimes bothersome trips to the V-E-T, in a story she calls "Pep-Pep went to the Vet-Vet".
17. A CatBlog, in any language, is still a CatBlog. ;-D
Visit CHAT ET ESSAI: Tout Autour Des Chats, and check out a collection of pictures posts under the label of "Insolite". ;-D
(Does anyone know if this is the 1st time a foreign language entry has appeared in the Carnival?)
18. In the biggest news to hit the CatBlogosphere since, well, since forever, or at least since CatBlogging 1st took the Internet by storm...
Laurence Simon, of This Blog is Full of Crap, the revered "King of the Cat Bloggers" (In case you did not know, he founded the Carnival, and nurtured it for a long time, before entrusting it to others.), rescues a kitten...of the Black Cat persuasion (I Love those adorable blue eyes!!)!
On Friday the 13th, no less! ;-D
Nardo hasn't ate the critter...yet, so may be open to having someone to mentor. ;-D
Well, that's all for this edition!
I am about to take a nap, and recuperate, as Daddy heads off to work for the evening.
If anymore entries arrive I will add them to the list when I awaken. ;-D
Oh, 1 more thing!
Did you know that many Cats do more than just speak our native language?
Many of us are Bilingual!
We can speak "Bird"!
Tweet, Tweet! ;-D
Seriously...there are many Felines on Twitter, as well as critters of many other species! ;-D
Look in my sidebar, and you will see my Tweets!
I am known as Nikita_TwitPuss, and you can follow, and friend me, here!
