Lend your ears and have a laugh with the Ballpoint Penguins, three very fine voices doing original and popular comic songs with verve and wry style in and around Perth, Western Australia, and on Australian Radio, since Mid-2003!
Original songs and parodies, classics, and a variety of quirky finds, done mostly A Cappella, with the occasional guitar thrown in when appropriate, they harmonise in pop, gospel, blues and barbershop styles, with a contagious sense of humor that considers no subject off limits.
They began with the intention mainly to cover other people's novelty songs, but it was apparently at the Perth International Arts Festival where the Penguins had an epiphany.
They realized that their peculiar original material was far more popular than their covers of other folks songs.
Ever since they have been "terrorizing festivals, folk clubs, wineries and the odd supermarket with their overachieving dress code and underachieving sense of taste."
I've listened to the 3 songs they have posted for the enjoyment of visitors, on their website, including 2 originals (1 about jellyfish, the other about Haircuts), and just couldn't stop laughing they were so much fun.
I especially loved The Haircut Song! ;-D
