The First Lady of California, Maria Shriver, has a Blog.
Relax, already, I didn't know that either. ;-D
Members of her Team "work daily on projects and issues we care deeply about" and contribute interesting articles to the blog.
One article, this past summer, was written by Holly Mann, the Communications Manager in the Office of the First Lady.
She works on "Maria’s Initiative for Disaster Preparedness" and has written an interesting piece on the Harry Potter books and "how you can not only enjoy the story, but find meaning within the story to teach life lessons."
One such lesson is about being prepared.
We all have the ability to prepare ourselves. In our world, when natural or manmade disasters are a big reality, we often think we’re invincible or that it won’t happen to us. If only that were the case, but disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, the Tsunami of Sri Lanka, the 1989 San Francisco Earthquake are testimonies to the fact that a disaster can strike at any time and at any place. And the real question remains: are you prepared?
Her discussion of the Fifth book and film, in the Potter series, ends with an encouragement to check out some suggestions on how to be better disaster prepared.
